3 Boating Adventures You’ll Love at Hubbard’s Marina
Hubbard’s Marina overlooks Eleanor Island. It’s by the John’s Pass Village and Boardwalk, along the shore of the Boca Ciega Bay. The marina was named after Wilson Hubbard, a Memphis-born captain who caught and sold fish from the Pass-a-Grille pier (now known as the Merry Pier on Eighth Avenue) in the 1930s. At the age of 17, he bought five rowboats, and by the 1950s, he began offering day-long charters on the Gulf.

The operation was moved to John’s Pass in 1976. Captain Hubbard helped create the marina and village we know today, providing fishing activities, shopping, and dining. He also worked to preserve the bay through research and environmental efforts.
