3 Reasons the Tampa Bay Symphony Is an Ideal Night out
It Offers Something Different When imagining a vacation to Gulfport, a few staple activities come to mind. The beautiful beaches, the Gulfport Casino Ballroom, or other exciting attractions like Veterans Park and the Tuesday Fresh Market. While these activities are great, a once-in-a-lifetime experience awaits with the Tampa Bay Symphony. The symphony has nearly 80 musicians, five of whom have been with the symphony since its birth. The members’ inherent talent, diligent practice, and commitment to the arts make listening to the harmonious sounds of violas, cellos, and much more is truly a goosebump-worthy experience.

It’s Affordable Unlike most symphonies in big cities where tickets can range from $50 to well over $100, the Tampa Bay Symphony’s tickets run $20 a piece at the door or $48 for a season pass. Because the tickets are so affordable, it’s the perfect evening activity for the whole family. It also leaves room in the budget for dinner and a slice of Patty’s Famous Key Lime Pie at Isabelle’s Restaurant located inside our inn.

It’s Philanthropic In the symphony’s mission statement, it aims to “encourage and educate youth throughout Florida,” Additionally, “to provide an opportunity for qualified volunteer musicians of all ages to perform challenging symphonic music and to enhance and enrich the artistic and cultural life of our community.” For the last 30 years, the Tampa Bay Symphony has hosted the Young Artist Competition. This competition was one of the first of its kind and is an opportunity for musically inclined youth to showcase their talents in front of judges and the public who choose to come. This is especially important because studies show that learning to play an instrument as a child has proven benefits. Ultimately, the winner gets to perform a show with the symphony and receives a $2,000 scholarship.
